Last time, we talked about Spring cleaning your Winter clothes and those pesky trinkets cluttering up your house. This week, we are going to tackle cleaning your refrigerator. Ready? Here we go!
Cleaning your refrigerator
When did you clean your refrigerator last? Perhaps it was when something spilled in it, or when you couldn’t find those pickles that you KNEW were in there. Let’s be honest, almost no one likes to clean out the refrigerator. However, since we can see Spring on the horizon, let’s have a go!
Start by examining everything in your refrigerator. Decide if you recognize or really want to keep the things stored in there. Do this by checking labels for expiration dates. Check home storage containers for signs of mold, and throw away whatever you can’t identify!
The freezer as well?
This goes for your freezer as well. Toss anything that has freezer burn, you know, that whitish crusty film on the food and under the plastic wrap. In addition, anything that has ice crystals on it is probably too old to taste good or to taste much at all for that matter, so throw it away!
Now that you have located all the previously unidentified science experiments in your fridge and concluded them by tossing them in the trash, it’s time to wash the shelves and walls and make the inside sparkle. Here’s how. Take your favorite all-purpose cleaner, a rag, a sponge, a scrubby, maybe rubber gloves, and clean every surface in your refrigerator. Remove and clean shelves and drawers, and you can even use a toothpick to clean those tiny spaces between shelves. Make sure that you get every area. Finally, you want your fridge to be spotless when you put the food that has made the freshness cut back into it.
Good luck, and happy cleaning!
